Watch how Choccywoccydoodah helped Shoreham Lifeboat Station celebrate its 150th anniversary with incredible and very edible cake
The famous Brighton-based chocolaterie Choccywoccydoodah not only offered to make a cake to celebrate 150 years of lifesaving at Shoreham RNLI Lifeboat Station last year but they also filmed the unveiling of it for their new television series.
The Shoreham lifeboat crew and station volunteers are featured in episode 10 of Choccywoccydoodah, which is airing on Friday 15 July on the UKTV Good Food channel.
Choccywooccydoodah heard about the station celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2015 and thought the occasion deserved a cake. The episode it is featured in focuses on emergency services and community based groups.
The production company Twofour Broadcast, which makes the television series, spent a day at the station filming last November with some of the Choccywoccydoodah staff before unveiling the surprise cake on the all weather lifeboat to the crew and volunteers.
Everyone then got a chance to tuck in and enjoy the delicious chocolate cake in the crew room.
Shoreham lifeboat coxswain Steve Smith said: “Everyone was very excited when we heard that Choccywoccydoodah were making us a cake and when it was unveiled on the boat, everyone burst into applause.
“The detail on the cake which was made entirely of chocolate was incredible even down to the pebbles around the bottom which looked so real. We would like to say a big thank you to Choccywoccydoodah again.
“Our 150th anniversary in 2015 was a fantastic year with lots happening and this was one of the highlights. We have had an eight-month wait to see what the filming was like. Let’s hope it is as good as the cake was.”
The episode is airing at 3.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday 15 July and then 12.30am on Saturday 16 July. The episodes are then repeated on Sunday 17 July.
