Crew Page

There is only one full time employee at Shoreham - the mechanic. It's his job to keep the boats, equipment and facilities operational. Everyone else at the station is an unpaid volunteer.

Crew and helpers are alerted by pagers, which can be activated any time of the day or night. When the pagers go off the crew drop everything and get to the boathouse as quickly as possible.

We carry out regular exercises, usually with both boats afloat and sometimes involving neighbouring RNLI stations, or other SAR organisations such as the Coastguard rescue helicopter.

The Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Team

	Chris Bunby Chris is the Lifeboat Operations Manager. He is in overall charge of the station and is responsible for all launches. He is senior pilot boat coxswain.		Peter Huxtable MBE Peter is the coxswain and is in overall command of the ALB. There is a page about him here. He is a partner in seafood company Monteum.

	Charlie Hubbard Charlie is the second coxswain, which means he takes command in Peter's absence. He's a fishery officer and master of FPV Watchful.		Mark Blatcher Mark is the mechanic and the one full time RNLI employee at Shoreham. You'll find him at the boathouse every day, keeping everything in operational condition.

	Simon Tugwell Simon's the second mechanic, and has been on the crew at Shoreham for over 20 years. Simon is a site manager.		Steve Smith Steve is an ILB helmsman and a deputy coxswain on the ALB. He's a cabinet maker.

	Clive Silverson Clive is an ILB helmsman and ALB crew member. He is a security officer.		Peter Everard Peter is a deputy coxswain on the ALB. He's a full time instructor for the RNLI.

	Keith Laker As well as an ALB crewman, Keith is the snior helm and is in charge of the inshore boat. During the day he's a pilot boat coxswain.		Mark Hayes Mark is an ILB helmsman and also navigates on the ALB. He's a fishery officer and Mate of FPV Watchful.

	Adam Fox Adam is a crew member on both the ILB and the ALB. During the day he's an engineer.		Simon Williams Simon is a crew member on both boats. He's also trained as an ILB helm and is awaiting final assessment. He's a retail manager.

	Adam Cairns Adam is an ILB helmsman and ALB crew member. He's an electronics engineer.		Tim Fox Tim is an ILB helmsman and ALB crew member. He's a marine electronics engineer.

	Rob Cullen Rob is an ILB helmsman and ALB crew member. He also runs the station web site. He works for a marine magazine and events company.		Ben Coe Ben is crew for the ILB and 3rd mechanic on the ALB. By day he is Senior bosun at the Sussex Yacht Club.

	Karl Owens Karl is a crew member on both boats. Karl is a marketing executive.		Dave Simmonds Dave is an ILB and ALB crew member. During the day he is a postman.

	Chris Hubbard Chris is our youngest crew member and is a probationer on both boats.		Keith Stevens Former Selsey 2nd Mechanic Keith is a relief mechanic for the RNLI as well as an ALB crewman.

	Bel Vause Bel is a crew member on both boats. She's a fisheries research officer.		Toby Reed Toby is a crew member on both boats. He's a student.

	Paul Baker Paul is in his probationary period for both boats. He's a data analyst.		Keith Phelps Head Launcher Keith manages ALB launch and recovery. He currently assists with ILB launches. By day he runs a publishing production company.

	Mike Fox Mike retired from the ALB in 2004 and is now a shore helper. During the day he's a printer.		Dave Cassan A former ALB crew member and ILB helmsman, Dave is Shoreham's Press Officer. During the day he works for a publishing house.

	Chris Landale Winch operator Chris controls the winch during launch and recovery operations. He currently serves as ALB crew. By day he is a Pilot boat coxswain.		Tone Ferne Shore helper Tone joined the station in 2004. By day he is a sound engineer who works with a number of well known rock bands.

	Marcus Eaton Marcus is one of 2 brand new probationers who have started their training at Shoreham.		Mark Dyer Mark is the other brand new probationer at the station.

		Dr Tim Stevenson Dr Tim is the Honorary Medical Advisor which means he conducts the crew medicals, and Chairman of the committee. He is also the on call doctor for the station.
