RNLI Lifeboats frequently work alongside rescue helicopters and the one that covers our area is Coastguard Helicopter India Juliett (named after her CAA callsign G-BOIJ). | ||

She is a Sikorsky S61N twin engined aircraft, and is equipped with a vast assortment of equipment for locating and rescuing casualties. | |||

This picture is
from the back of the aircraft looking forward. The main
door is on the right and the cockpit can be seen at the
far end. To the left is the FLIR infra-red, to the right the stretchers and strops for casualty handling. The aircraft carries oxygen, entinox, and extensive first aid equipment including a defibrillator. |
