The all weather was launched to assist Brighton Lifeboat with a stricken 31ft yacht which had suffered engine failure and was drifting into the surf line west of Brighton Marina.

The vessel with one person on board was in rough sea conditions and the Brighton lifeboat crew had attempted to tow the yacht out of difficulty and put one crew member aboard the yacht to assist. But while undertaking this operation the tow line broke.

The lifeboat crew was then able to re-attach the tow and took the yacht into deeper waters, putting it in a safer position, before handing over to the Shoreham all weather lifeboat crew who re-established a new tow line and took it into the safety of Brighton Marina.
