The all weather Shoreham lifeboat was launched on Saturday to an injured man on a sailing boat about six miles south of Shoreham. The 22-year-old crewman had injured his head on board the 72ft vessel, which was on passage from Plymouth to Hull, in the choppy seas. The lifeboat came alongside and the crew took the man off the sailing boat. Once on board the lifeboat, he was assessed and then taken back to the lifeboat station. An ambulance crew at the station treated him for a minor head injury and two of the crew took him to the railway station so he could travel home.
