The all weather lifeboat was launched to assist the inshore lifeboat and Brighton lifeboat crews with a man who had gone into the water underneath the Brighton Palace Pier at about 7pm.

The man then climbed onto the structure underneath the pier and the two rigid inflatable lifeboats stood off keeping a watch on him. The all weather lifeboat arrived on scene and the crew was changed over in the Shoreham inshore lifeboat. The man finally got into Brighton lifeboat at 1am and he was taken to safety.
