The inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched to an elderly woman who had fallen overboard from a 45ft yacht close to Shoreham Harbour quarter of a mile south west of Shoreham Harbour.

She had been recovered from the water by the yacht crew but required medical assessment. The ILB proceeded with three crew members aboard and was on scene two minutes after launching. The lifeboat crew members were transferred aboard the yacht with first aid equipment.

The casualty was given oxygen and transferred to the ILB and taken back to the lifeboat station to a waiting ambulance. The ILB then re-launched to assist the ALB crew in berthing the yacht due to the strong northerly wind inside the canal.
